OmNomNom in Seoul Part 1

Hello guys is time to back to the blog! This few days rotten at home enjoy my stress free life before the last semester begins. Yet feeling quite unwell lately due to fever, sore throat, cough..everything come at the same time la! So rest at home is the best choice. :-)

Since I'm so free I shouldn't neglect my blog if not soon I will become lazier and abandoned this site already! *sit up and blog*

Has been a very long long time didn't visit to the newly open restaurant in Penang so don't really know what's the new trend in the town. New cafes and restaurants in Penang these days are growing like mushroom. Just been away for two months and everything changes. 

Since I have been away from Penang and living in Seoul for 5 weeks, so might as well blog about food in Korea. Anyway 4 weeks is over, I don't really remember the name exactly for the food that I posted below. Anyway just enjoy the pretty pictures will do la, you will realized food in Korea is not just about Kimchi! ^^

Part 1 of food post would be most likely around Hoegi Subway Station. Hoegi is somewhere near to Kyung Hee University, since we studying here so most of the time exploring food around. These are some of the food that taken throughout that month.

NaengMyeon. The one and only NaengMyeon that I took in Korea. I still can't accept taking the noodles in cold soup and it is so chewy but this shop is frequently visited by the locals. Always has long queue outside the shop. One bowl of this cost RM15.

Bibimbap from the same shop. In Korea, if there is other options, I will try to avoid bibimbap and NaengMyeon because both are not my liking! Lol..

The 便当 chicken mayo bento! Is the cheapest meal around the area. This meal cost RM8. Haha..but this chicken mayo really nice..I guessed all of us miss this very much!

I love this! Very huge pork cutlet with cheese fillings! But..this picture isn't serve with cheese, if not mistaken, this is with pumpkin fillings. I prefer cheese as it is salty compared to pumpkin tasted sweet. One plate of this cost RM15 but it is very full then. 

Our university cafeteria food. Not really remember the price but food in cafeteria is relatively cheap. If not mistaken this one cost RM10.50. I was craving for traditional chinese soup so I ordered this. It serves with dumpling and ttuk aka rice cake!

Cafeteria food as well. This is two persons serving. I love this cz the food is hot when it served and is a little bit spicy and sweet. RM14 for two persons. 

Spicy pork with rice. Craving for soup again. Lol..and the korean yogurt *on the top right* aka vitagen is what we called! Some people will have constipation when they travel overseas, and if you are in Korea, I suggest you to buy korean yogurt and I assure it may help you out in constipation cz I experienced it myself! Lol..

Toppoki aka spicy rice cake in Korea. One of my favourite dish in Korea. The one selling in MyeongDong is much nicer compared to cafeteria. One of the cheapest food in cafeteria. This meal only cost RM4.50.

Ice Cream ice cream! Snacks that we keep in the hostel fridge to fix the crave when we watch drama. Haha..

Extremely spicy instant noodle. I tried that and never ever pour the whole packet of chili oil into it. Otherwise you will end up with diarrhea! Lol..basically it tasted only spicy and nothing else! 

Ahh! One of my favourite food in Seoul! Oreo Yogurt from The Wayo! The mixture of Oreo and yogurt is the best as oreo is sweet and yogurt is sour, best still when I eat, I can bite the crunch of Oreo cookies in every bites! Heavenly good la this yogurt! This is cheap though, RM4.50 each! I want more! 

Another favourite restaurant of mine. What I missed the most is the steam egg! How can you get this full pot of steam egg yet so fluffy in Malaysia? Apparently, those steam egg that selling in local Korean restaurant, they are very dry and tasted like it burned. ==" The side dishes are very nice as well..I love the dried cuttlefish, fish cake and soup! Yumm...

OMG! I miss this! RM30 buffet samgyeopsal and eat-all-you-can enoki mushroom! I'm a mushroom lover so I can really die for this! Really miss this la..:-(

Steam pork! This is very cheap and delicious as well. The meal cost RM15 only. :-)

Walked into this restaurant randomly without knowing the food delicious or expensive. Unexpectedly, the food turns up great. Although the price is quite costly but we certainly miss this food. It is actually duck meat but..it tasted like german sausages! Haha..one plate of this cost RM45! 

Fried spicy octopus from the same shop! Is very spicy but you just can't stop taking it! Almost the same price like the duck meat. 

Pizza from Mr. Pizza! The salad bar from Mr. Pizza comes with lots of variety and you can find everything here including jelly, cookies, yogurt, many different flavours of potatoes, crabmeat and so on so forth! Unlike our salad bar in Malaysia. >< 

Basically I love Mr. Pizza and Pizza Hut in Korea but the portion for Mr. Pizza is much smaller than Pizza Hut. If you ask me, I would prefer Pizza in Korea than McD and KFC. But..Mr. Pizza and Pizza Hut is very expensive. One meal would cost you RM30 + per person only for a few slices.

Last but not least! 安东鸡！I have no idea what is this called in English but it tasted like food that we could get from authentic Chinese restaurant in Taiwan or China..because they have dried chili padi so the spicyness makes it more flavourful! 

They have two types of glass noodles..after it absorb the soup, it is so so nice! They have the outlet in MyeongDong as well but I heard that usually restaurant branches open in MyeongDong are usually more expensive or same price with smaller portion. ><

That's the end for the food sharing near to my uni area..upcoming post I will bring you to Gangnam, Ewha, MyeongDong and so on  in Seoul! Stay tuned and I miss you guys!

Lucky Me

I know I've been away for ages. Sorry I seriously can't find ample time to sit in front of the computer to draft a post. Anyway I purposely sneaked out some sleeping time to mark some memorable dates to recap for the past month spent in Korea. I know I have no time for full review things like that so recap will do me well.

So far I've been lucky throughout the Summer Program I had in Korea. I should say God bless me? I'm luckier than the others? Or I am really capable? Haha..I have not much confidence in myself so I always assume it is my luck which brings me to where I am today.

I will be marking down some of the little "achievements" that I've made in this month. Hehe..

The first lucky gift that I received is Starbucks Tumbler from the speaker who delivered a talk in our class. Those who happened to be in the same class with me always know that I'm a "question student". Is not that I'm super smart that type, but I just can't help it when the topic is something that I'm familiar with and questions will naturally pop up in my mind. Lol..and I am not shy for asking questions in front of the crowd. May be I'm thick skinned that type la..haha..but with this attitude of mine, it eventually builds many soft skills and it could unintentionally leave a good image of you to the speaker. Tips here to share with you, one way to impress them is by raising questions.

Thus, by answering question, lucky me has got a Starbucks Tumbler la..anyway siblings has a fight to own this tumbler. So see who is the owner but definitely not me..lol! I'm not a avid fans of Starbucks..

Right after the Starbucks talk, up next is Miss Kelcey from Homeplus giving talk the following day. By answering a very random question in class has got me Homeplus iconic CSR character soft toy named eParan from Miss Kelcey. Fyi, we are not informing in advance that answering questions will got us any gifts so both of the prizes that I've got are really random. Really paiseh for receiving gifts two days in a row. Haha..

Then, two to three days before my completion ceremony, I was picked by my Professor to go up the stage to receive my certificate of accomplishment from the Dean. Only 5 students among all the participants who participated in this program will be selected to go up the stage to receive the certificate. Is my pleasure to be part of them. :-)

On the day itself during the closing ceremony, I joined the talent show. This was the thing that I have mentioned in the previous post when I'm super nervous to it because I'm singing korean song. Lol..a language that I'm totally not familiar with..I performed song by Taeyeon titled Missing you like crazy. Although I didn't win any prizes but it leaves a great memories and put an end to such a fruitful and memorable Summer Program in Seoul. I'm gonna miss everyone here that I know. Featuring in Kyung Hee official website! So lucky lo me! Haha..Thanks Wooin for telling me! I think this will be one and the only one chances of my face turning up in the official website. Lol..

Last but not least, I am shortlised for the Axiata Young Talent Programme. I submitted the application online few hours before the closing and there are some mistakes I did in the application yet I emailed them again to make the changes so at that time I was hoping the least that they could straight away turn me off for doing such mistakes. So, I didn't expect anything from this application.

But then, out of expectation, I received their phone call while unpacking my luggage from Korea. It is a phone call interview from Axiata. Scare myself out to answer a phone call interview when I didn't prepare anything in advance and still half unconscious as I'm doing the chores. I just do my best for the interview and telling myself don't expect too much, in fact treating it as a interview experience will do.

The next morning while I'm still having my very sweet sleep, my phone rang, again, number from KL. Picked up the call and was informed that I'm shortlisted for the program! Oh gosh, I'm so excited, never thought that I could go thus far! Again, I will just be myself and do my best besides enjoy the entire programme, the other things I will just see how it goes.

Technically, I have 7 weeks holiday spending on attending program then the remaining 3 weeks in total is my holiday! Lol..but I love this kind of holiday! Won't eager on hunting for part time job, because I know in the future I will still have plenty of time to work till I retired so now is the time to learn as much as I can as a student first!

This post is not meant for me to show off or what, I just want to mark down all the memorable dates one day before I have forgotten everything about them. Blog is not for me only to write reviews, to gain traffics, in fact all the visual images should be written into words to snap shot all the memories that we have created and one day reminiscing the past.

Second last day in Kyung Hee..Mixed feelings!

My second last day staying in this dorm and tomorrow will be my last class before the program end. So sad over it..it ends too fast.

Mixed feelings I have now. Sad because I dislike the feeling of saying goodbye to friends. Nervous because tomorrow will be closing ceremony and something going on tomorrow. Not gonna tell yet cz don't want to have any pressure for myself. I will just enjoy to give my best. *Is not about the matter that I posted in Instagram, it is something even serious than that* Haha..

Thing that I'm grateful about
1. Friends
Appreciate knowing friends from different countries. You guys are really amazing and so fun to mixed with. Love every single one of you! If you happen to be in Malaysia, contact me through Facebook ya..:-)

2. Professor Oliver William
Haha..I feel grateful for his patience to bare with us. Sometimes we have to admit that the video playing is too boring and all of us were looking at our phone but he is being so patience like nothing happen and won't be angry or anything. May be he expected this to be happen every year la. Lol..is his fifth or sixth time teaching for Kyung Hee Summer Program.

3. My dorm
Although when I arrived I feel slightly uneasy about it but after 4 weeks, I start to love here day by day. Every night sleep soundly..very comfortable! Aww..tonight will be my second last night here. :-(

4. Food 
Ahh..I love korean food so much. Don't think every food here is kimchi and samgyeopsal *pork barbeque*..they have variety of food here, so those who say dislike korean food and choose not to come because you think every meal is kimchi then I hope after you read this, I can changed your perception towards here. Haha..
Food here is too awesome la! Every night different food yet we still can't finish exploring!
Food which is not my favour: Naengmyeong (cold noodles), Bibimbap (vegetables mixed with rice)
Food which I favour: Fried chicken, cake, dessert, everything about green tea, patbingsu (red bean and green tea ice), oreo frozen yogurt, popcorn, samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), samgyeopsal, spicy sliced pork, and many others that I couldn't named it but it will always be in my mind.

5. Walk everyday
In Penang, I have car so needless to walk but when I'm here, we need to walk all the time even if it is raining heavily and go everywhere by subway! I will miss subway here as well!

6. Cosmetics
Cosmetics here is cheap! Some products that I don't even know is also existing here. Lol..I have one sample from Too Cool For School which is get ready dual primer for pores, I don't know what it is for. Lol..and don't doubt about Korean cosmetics, you can get the cosmetics with cheap price which give you the results like those Western brands. So, what are you waiting for, come here shop for cosmetics la! Lol..

And many more I would say.

I will miss here! Hope I can bring my parents and siblings here one day to let them experience what the locals is doing instead of tour around like a tourist! Any of my friends who would like to visit to Korea feel free to ask me details about here. I would be glad to help! :-) But I may not know everything la..Haha..

Btw I will still be staying here until next week la..haha!

Korea Travel Book: Boryeong Mud Festival

Hello! This few days lazy to go out that's why I have time here to update my blog! 

Will just be a short update.. 

The last three days staying in my dorm..such a cozy place..I'm gonna miss here. 

Last weekend we went to Boryeong Mud Festival with school field trip! 

Quite fun but weather is extremely hot! My shoulder, head and neck got sunburn now! Cz stupid me forgot to bring sunblock along..ishh! I turn dark super easily but takes very long time to have fair skin again. I should say I never have fair skin in my life, I can be darker than my friends whereby I drive but they walk in the campus..=="

Super in love with the sea but the water is dark colour cz everyone wash themselves after the mud games. 

My first time seeing so so many people along the sea coast. Too bad the picture is blur cz the waterproof casing has too much mud on it! Lol..I need to buy a waterproof casing for my  iPhone so badly! If not I missed out many picture taking time!

I left few days here for the Summer Program. After this we will be all on our own..free and easy tour..will enjoy all the korean food before I arrived in Malaysia! Anyway I have grown horizontally now..T.T 

Btw not forget to tell, we bath in a common shower room in Boryeong! My first time shower nakedly in front of others..yet is a group of nearly 20 people bathing in one shower room! And the water cold like ice water..ishh...so you have no time to see other's body, what you will thought is, get it done asap then cabut! Lol..

Korea Travel Book: Arrived in Jejudo

"Hello guys, I came back from Jeju in the past Sunday. Quite a fun trip in Jeju cz we met nice cab driver to fetch us around with very reasonable price we think..and it definitely save much time to tour around the island. 

Here are some of the recap of my trip. I have try to reduce as much pictures as I can cz I don't wish to spam my post with tons of pictures. Filter lots of them already." - this was written on Monday.

Today is Saturday already. Ehhem..I was refused to open this link cz just want to stay away from this blog chaos. Anyway I appreciate if you still click to the link to read this post. Thanks for her telling me, and I have no idea what's happening here. If any of you came across this please let me know what's going on. I would be much appreciated!

Back to the story here. Jeju Air is the plane that we travel from Gimpo Airport to Jeju Airport. This is the shortest travel period compared to other transportation and is the most convenient one. 

Lunch in LotteRia. The cheapest set meal need RM16. In Malaysia, we considered RM10 as expensive for a McD set meal. Lol..

My Giant Double Burger. Double patty. Lol..being such a big eater here cz we have to walk a lot. If didn't eat this much, I am afraid I will be starved easily. Lol..

The hostel we are staying in for 4 days 3 nights!

I am impressed with korea waste management. They really separate all the food waste and trash accordingly. Something that we should review and practice in Malaysia.

Our hostel room. Very cosy right? RM55 per person for a night. Considered cheap living in Korea. The bathroom is actually shared bathroom but is very clean no worries! :-)

Black pork that we had that day. The hostel person in charge recommended this restaurant to us and they said if staying in HK Jeju hostel, the customers will get 5 or 10% disc on the total bill. Anyway, we saw another shop which is more crowded on the same street. Sadly, we knew it after we had taken our dinner here.

This is so far the best food that I have in Korea. Lol..that day each person paying 13125 won which is equivalent to RM37. The best dinner I've ever had here. Usually I control my food expenses within RM30 per day and I tell you, one meal will cost you at least RM15 already. So this is definitely not a luxurious tour. Haha..

Fry in a glass look-alike "pan"..I knew Yea in Times Square is using this so-called pan, but many told me Yea is not nice. *Yea that I referred to is a restaurant*

Wah this is heaven. Haha..the pork oil flow underneath the bean sprouts and kimchi and my first time frying kimchi this way so is somehow different than the usual one.

Love wrapping this with lettuce, then a slice of pork, then kimchi, rice, bean sprouts and the chili paste with pickle green onion! Slurp..and the one on the left is pork skin. Nice also lo..haha..

I think this is the only one McDonald's in Jeju island.

Love Jeju. Before I visit to this place, I will think ok lo, see rock, see mountain and sea but after visited I really love this place especially person like me who prefer seaside instead of city. May be another reason is because we chose the places that we want to go in Jeju, that is why we enjoy the trip very much.

Walked very far to see a rock. Yup is a rock, a tourist spot.

Okay, we reached.

People said can see a dragon look-alike rock but no matter which side I see, it doesn't looks like a dragon rock. ==" Another strange thing here is not the rock, is the uncle on the left in the picture is fishing. I wonder how can they walk so far till the tip there just to fish har..I see difficulties walking there leh..lol..

That's it for the first night. Has been a week and just got the mood to blog. Anyway I have a fun trip in Korea and today is my 15th day here. Hopefully tomorrow I will have the time to blog about my feeling staying here in this 15 days!
